Client: Bellway Homes

Services: Heritage/Conservation, Drone Survey, Photogrammetry, AutoCAD Drawing

The former Northumberland Police HQ site has local and national heritage significance due to its previous use as the “Ponteland Cottage Homes” which were built as homes for orphans in the early 1900s. Bellway have since purchased the site to redevelop into much needed housing in Newcastle.

Due to the site’s historic significance, the local council required archaeological recording exercises to be completed prior to redevelopment works commencing. Bellway instructed Building Surveyors Ltd to conduct a number of inspections, surveys and recording exercises to assist in this and our services included the following:

  • Measured surveys to provide accurate AutoCAD drawings of layout and elevations.
  • Digital photographic records of the buildings.
  • Concordance record of materials and features for submission to the County Archive.
  • Drone Surveys.
  • Photogrammetry.
  • Heritage Statement and Heritage Impact Assessment.
  • Archaeological Recording Report.

The video below shows some of the drone footage we captured prior to works beginning.
