SPECIFIC DEFECT – CLOVER MITES

November 25, 2022

We were recently appointed to investigate a clover mite infestation at a property, after various contractors and pest controllers had been unable to help.

Clover mites have become a more common nuisance over the past 100 years, with infestations often occurring during Spring and Autumn. Though they pose no health concerns to people, the infestations are certainly a significant nuisance when 1000s enter a property. Though usually only ΒΌ of a millimetre in size, red pigments within the body fluids leave very noticeable staining on internal surfaces if crushed.

Our role often includes identifying how, where and why unwanted agents are entering into a property; though it is more common to be investigating water ingress, as opposed to clover mites. However, our approach to such matters allows our skilled surveyors to effectively assess both the internal and external aspects of a property, as well as the grounds surrounding them. In undertaking a comprehensive survey of this property, and surrounding grounds, we were able to swiftly determine the appropriate course of action to mitigate against clover mite ingress.

Through our role we provided an independent, Specific Defect Report on the causes of such infestations and how to mitigate against such a microscopic, yet significant, issue at a property, so that the resident had a clear course of action to take to improve the frustrating circumstances they were left in.

If you have any issues at your property and are in need of independent consultation and advice, we would be happy to discuss how we are able to ensure your targets are met and the quality you expect is delivered.
